Trenbolone Hexahydrobenzylcarbonate

Trenbolone Hexahydrobenzylcarbonate is the long-acting ester version of Trenbolone that once held a legitimate place in pharmaceutical use. It was introduced in the late 1960s by the French company Negma Laboratories under the brand name Parabolan. This marked the only time Trenbolone was produced in a true human-grade medical format. Doctors prescribed it for conditions such as severe malnutrition, muscle-wasting disorders like cachexia, and in some cases osteoporosis. By 1997, the product was discontinued, and since then no pharmaceutical Trenbolone for human use has returned to the market.

From a chemical standpoint, Parabolan is nearly identical to Trenbolone Acetate. The key difference lies in the ester attached to the hormone. The hexahydrobenzylcarbonate ester slows the release, meaning injections were required less often than with the acetate version. The hormone itself behaves the same regardless of ester type. Today, Trenbolone is mostly found in performance-enhancing circles. While acetate versions are still produced for veterinary use in cattle implants, Parabolan and similar long-ester forms exist only through underground sources. Among competitive bodybuilders, Trenbolone is often regarded as one of the most powerful conditioning agents available, while also being capable of significant muscle growth.

How Parabolan Works

Trenbolone is structurally related to Nandrolone, the hormone associated with Deca-Durabolin. What makes Trenbolone different is the addition of double bonds at the 9 and 11 carbon positions. This adjustment prevents aromatization into estrogen and dramatically increases its binding strength to the androgen receptor. As a result, it carries no estrogenic activity and delivers far greater anabolic and androgenic power than Nandrolone or even testosterone.

On paper, Trenbolone has an anabolic rating of 500 and an androgenic rating of 500, compared to testosterone’s baseline rating of 100 in each category. Unlike some steroids whose ratings don’t fully reflect real-world performance, Trenbolone’s numbers closely match its actual effects.

In practical terms, Parabolan enhances protein synthesis and improves nitrogen retention in muscle tissue, both of which are essential for growth and recovery. Muscle tissue is largely dependent on nitrogen balance, and maintaining a positive nitrogen state supports an anabolic environment. It also increases red blood cell production, improving oxygen delivery throughout the body. That can translate to better endurance and training capacity.

Another major factor is its influence on IGF-1, a powerful growth hormone that plays a central role in muscle repair and regeneration. Trenbolone is also known to reduce the impact of glucocorticoids such as cortisol, which are stress hormones that can break down muscle and encourage fat storage. By limiting cortisol’s effects while boosting anabolic activity, it helps shift the body toward muscle preservation and fat reduction.

One unique trait that sets Trenbolone apart is improved nutrient efficiency. The body becomes more effective at using the protein, carbohydrates, and fats consumed. This characteristic is one reason acetate versions are used in livestock before market, as they promote growth with less wasted feed.

Effects of Parabolan

Because of these characteristics, Parabolan can be effective in both cutting and bulking phases.

During cutting cycles, it stands out for its ability to preserve lean mass while calories are restricted. Dieting typically leads to some muscle loss, especially as body fat levels drop. Trenbolone’s strong anabolic action helps protect muscle tissue, allowing a greater percentage of weight lost to come from fat instead of muscle. It also creates a harder, drier look once body fat is low enough. Many competitors rely on it in the final stages of contest preparation for this reason.

In bulking phases, Trenbolone can support significant gains in lean muscle without the water retention associated with aromatizing steroids. Since it does not convert to estrogen, weight gained tends to be quality tissue rather than fluid. That said, some body fat gain is still possible if calories are excessive. A controlled surplus combined with proper training and nutrition is still necessary.

Beyond physique changes, users often report increases in strength, improved recovery time, and greater muscular endurance. Some athletes consider it for performance enhancement due to these traits. However, cardiovascular endurance may decline for certain individuals. Response varies from person to person.

Possible Side Effects

Parabolan is not considered mild, and side effects can occur. That said, reactions differ widely depending on genetics, dosage, and overall health.

Estrogenic effects:

Trenbolone does not aromatize, meaning it does not convert to estrogen. However, it does carry progestogenic activity, which can contribute to gynecomastia in sensitive individuals. Water retention is generally not a concern. Some users may require anti-estrogen support depending on their sensitivity and what other compounds are included in their cycle.

Androgenic effects:

Because it is highly androgenic, side effects may include acne, increased body hair, and accelerated hair loss in men predisposed to male pattern baldness. Drugs that inhibit 5-alpha reductase are ineffective against Trenbolone because it is not metabolized by that enzyme.

Women face a high risk of virilization symptoms such as deepening of the voice, increased body hair, and clitoral enlargement. Even low doses can cause issues. Discontinuing use at the first sign of symptoms may reverse them, but prolonged exposure can lead to permanent changes. For this reason, it is generally not recommended for female athletes.

Cardiovascular health:

Trenbolone can negatively affect cholesterol levels, particularly by lowering HDL and raising LDL. Blood pressure may also increase in some individuals. A heart-healthy lifestyle, including a diet low in saturated fats and simple sugars and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, is important. Regular cardiovascular exercise is strongly advised. Anyone with pre-existing cholesterol or blood pressure issues should avoid this compound.

Testosterone suppression:

Natural testosterone production will be heavily suppressed. For men, adding an external testosterone source during use is essential to prevent symptoms associated with low testosterone. After discontinuation, natural production will gradually resume, but recovery can take time. Many choose to implement a post-cycle therapy plan to help stimulate recovery, although it will not instantly restore levels to baseline. Recovery also depends on prior hormonal health and responsible use.

Liver toxicity:

Trenbolone is not considered significantly hepatotoxic, especially compared to many oral steroids. Liver stress is generally minimal at reasonable doses, though extremely high amounts could increase strain.
