Oxymetholone (Anadrol / Anapolon) Overview

Oxymetholone, widely known as Anadrol or Anapolon, is a powerful synthetic anabolic steroid. It is a 17-alpha-alkylated derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), designed for oral use.

Originally, it was developed for medical purposes.

Medical background:

• Used to treat anemia

• Prescribed for osteoporosis

• Helped promote weight gain in malnourished patients

• Supported recovery in severely weakened individuals

Over time, newer non-steroidal treatments replaced it for anemia and osteoporosis. As a result, demand declined, and by 1993 Syntex stopped production, followed by other manufacturers.
